Washington Sundar Shines for Gujarat Titans
Indian all-rounder Washington Sundar played an amazing innings for Gujarat Titans (GT) in their IPL 2025 match against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH). When GT lost two quick wickets for just 16 runs, Sundar came in and scored 49 runs from only 29 balls.
His innings included 5 fours and 2 sixes, and he scored at a strike rate of 168.97. This strong performance helped Gujarat chase down the target easily.
Aakash Chopra: “Teams Didn’t Use Him Properly”
Former Indian cricketer Aakash Chopra shared his thoughts during the match on Jio Hotstar. He said that Washington Sundar hasn’t been given proper chances in the IPL, even though he has a lot of talent.
He said, “SRH bought him for ₹8 crore, but they didn’t use him well. GT also didn’t give him a single game until now – and even today, he didn’t bowl. That’s strange.”
Why Sundar Is Important for GT
Chopra explained that Washington Sundar is a left-handed batter, and that adds more variety to the GT batting lineup. After Sai Sudharsan, GT mostly has right-handed batters, so Sundar brings balance to the team.
Even though he didn’t bowl in this match, Chopra said that Sundar is a very good bowler, especially in the powerplay. “He is economical with the new ball, and his bowling is underrated,” Chopra said.
